Dentistry Done Differently

Dental implants are a permanent, strong and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth.

Embedded into the jawbone, they are made of two parts: a titanium screw and a prosthetic tooth.

At St Mawes Dental we are experienced and skilled in the assessment and placement of dental implants to help restore patients’ appearance and functionality. We work closely with the only specialist practice in Truro where we work closely with an implant dentist who has used this treatment on a frequent basis with high levels of success.

Losing one or more teeth can have a severe impact on an individual’s self-confidence as well as their ability to eat, chew and speak normally. Dental implants are therefore the ideal solution for patients who are struggling with the loss of their teeth.

Once we have examined your mouth and jawbone thoroughly – using x-rays and occasionally CT scans – we will be able to ascertain whether you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. If you are, a titanium screw will be embedded into your jawbone. This is to act as the new ‘root’ for your prosthetic tooth or teeth. Once the site of the screw has healed (which can take a few months), the dentist will attach a false tooth or teeth to the screw.

Implants are durable and proven to last for a number of years.

Reducing our impact on the environment

At St Mawes Dental, we believe we can work together to preserve the resources of the planet, use products and materials which respect the environment and contribute to environmental protection above and beyond our operation.

TOXIN REDUCTION

We aim to be an ‘amalgam-free’ practice and are committed to lower the environmental impact from the use of industrial mercury, which is a constituent of dental amalgam fillings.

SAFE USE & DISPOSAL OF CHEMICALS

We have special equipment such as safe filters in our suction and waste pipes to minimise our patient’s exposure to mercury when old dental metal fillings have to be taken out.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

In every area of our practice we have embraced the latest technology and installed the latest heating, insulation and energy recycling processes to significantly lower the energy consumption of the practice.
