Dentistry Done Differently

Dentures are often used when a patient has lost a number of teeth in a row or has lost all their upper or lower teeth.

Implant-retained dentures are simply denture appliances that are held in place by implants that are embedded into the jaw. This significantly reduces the chance of a denture slipping out of place or rubbing against the gums as it is held by clips attached to the implants.

If you opt for implant retained dentures, we will assess the suitability by taking X-rays or referring you for a CT scan to determine the viability of your jawbone.

A number of screws (or implants) will then be placed into the jawbone in order to act as a foundation for the dentures. While your mouth heals, we will provide you with temporary dentures, but once ready, your new dentures will be fitted.

As with regular dentures, which are held in place by adhesive, you can still remove your implant-retained device for cleaning.

Reducing our impact on the environment

At St Mawes Dental, we believe we can work together to preserve the resources of the planet, use products and materials which respect the environment and contribute to environmental protection above and beyond our operation.

TOXIN REDUCTION

We aim to be an ‘amalgam-free’ practice and are committed to lower the environmental impact from the use of industrial mercury, which is a constituent of dental amalgam fillings.

SAFE USE & DISPOSAL OF CHEMICALS

We have special equipment such as safe filters in our suction and waste pipes to minimise our patient’s exposure to mercury when old dental metal fillings have to be taken out.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

In every area of our practice we have embraced the latest technology and installed the latest heating, insulation and energy recycling processes to significantly lower the energy consumption of the practice.
