Dentistry Done Differently

Anti-wrinkle treatment is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age.

It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

After one 15-minute consultation and a few tiny treatments, within days, there’s a noticeable improvement in those persistent lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

Anti-wrinkle treatment is a purified protein that reduces the activity of the muscles, causing those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

A million people have been treated with anti-wrinkle treatment since FDA approval in 2002. Not just models and movie stars but also people from all types of professions.

FAQs

Why choose us?

  • We are a dentist-led clinic.
  • All wrinkle correction treatments are administered by our facial aesthetics dentist.
  • We offer a 1 month follow-up/review appointment post treatment as standard.

How does it work?

Wrinkle correction treatments block the chemical in the skin responsible for muscle contraction, thereby temporarily smoothing out wrinkles. At St Mawes Dental, we use all brands of naturally occurring protein for our treatments.

We actively encourage patients to seek independent medical advice before having wrinkle-relaxing treatments. All of our wrinkle-relaxing treatments are carried out by our facial aesthetics dentist only after a thorough consultation process.

Where can it be used?

Wrinkle correction can be treatments on the face and body, such as:

  • Forehead.
  • Frown lines in between brows.
  • Mouth.
  • Nasal area (bunny lines).
  • Neck.
  • Armpits (excessive sweating/hyperhidrosis).

Wrinkle softening is a straightforward procedure. We simply target specific areas to smooth out those lines and wrinkles.

Although these treatments have an excellent safety record, we shall, of course, discuss potential side effects during your initial consultation. It can also be used to eliminate gummy smiles and can help treat teeth clenching by using the treatment in the masseter muscle to relax it.

Am I suitable for this treatment?

A full medical history is taken for anyone contemplating this treatment. You will be required to fill out a medical form to rule out any conditions that might contra indicate a treatment. The vast majority of healthy people, who are not pregnant or breastfeeding are suitable.

How long do the effects last?

Generally the effects last on average 4-6 months though this can depend on one individual to another depending on their metabolic rate, stress levels and if they are on certain medications.

What can I expect immediate after treatment?

Sometimes it is common to see small raised bumps at the treatment sites but these should go down within 20-30 minutes. It is also quite common to experience a mild headache and in certain cases very mild flu like symptoms. These can be treated with over the counter painkillers.

When will I see results?

It normally takes about 10-14 days to see the full results of the treatment. Occasionally you may require a top up treatments at your 2 week review appointment. The overall result is a fresher more relaxed face. With regards to the armpits, you notice within a couple of days.

How often can I have it done?

It’s recommended that you wait until your previous treatment has worn off before having more wrinkle relaxing treatment. This treatment can be combined with other treatments such as facial fillers to make your skin look even younger and fresher.

How long do facial aesthetics treatments last?

Anti-wrinkle treatments last on average 4-6 months but this can vary between different individuals.

After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions for dermal fillers are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts about 6 months.

Will it look natural?

We always take the time to fully access our patients and understand and meet their expectations and desired outcome. Most patients are concerned about looking like they’ve had treatment and we take great pride in producing results that look natural.

We aim to be an ‘amalgam-free’ practice and are committed to lower the environmental impact from the use of industrial mercury, which is a constituent of dental amalgam fillings.

We have special equipment such as safe filters in our suction and waste pipes to minimise our patient’s exposure to mercury when old dental metal fillings have to be taken out.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

In every area of our practice we have embraced the latest technology and installed the latest heating, insulation and energy recycling processes to significantly lower the energy consumption of the practice.
