Dentistry Done Differently

Whether you’re looking to subtly enhance one or two teeth, or you would like a full smile makeover with a speedy solution, composite bonding can benefit you.

Composite bonding involves the placement of custom-shaped resins onto teeth that are chipped, stained or misshapen, and is a quicker and less invasive solution for smile enhancement compared with veneers.

Whilst veneers are made in a dental lab and adhered over the top of an aesthetically challenged tooth, the composite resin is directly applied in thin layers by your dentist. The process can be used to improve the structure and shade of multiple teeth or to simply repair a chip or crack you might have sustained on an individual tooth.

Our dentists have undertaken extensive training in cosmetic dentistry and helped countless patients achieve their dream smile with composite bonding. We take pride in natural-looking smiles, and in delivering long-term cosmetic restoration for our patients. Your dentist will harden the resins in place using a UV light and polish your tooth upon completing the resin application to give your tooth a beautiful shine.

We recommend Composite Bonding if you:

  • Are looking for a simple smile enhancement treatment?
  • Do not wish to undergo any drilling.
  • Do not wish to undergo any anaesthetic (very occasionally this may be needed).
  • Would like to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible (some tooth tissue removal is required before veneers).

Avoid biting on ice and foreign objects with your newly bonded tooth, and make sure you attend regular dentist and hygienist appointments with us here at St Mawes Dental. Whilst the lifespan of the composite resins is difficult to predict (as every patient is different), composite bonding can last approximately in the region of 3-6 years.

Did you know?

We can also offer a combination Smile Makeover treatment of composite bonding and teeth whitening. Our Smile Makeover solutions can tackle tooth discolouration using take-home whitening gels, and fix shape imperfections with individual teeth using the minimally-invasive composite bonding technique.

Reducing our impact on the environment

At St Mawes Dental, we believe we can work together to preserve the resources of the planet, use products and materials which respect the environment and contribute to environmental protection above and beyond our operation.

TOXIN REDUCTION

We aim to be an ‘amalgam-free’ practice and are committed to lower the environmental impact from the use of industrial mercury, which is a constituent of dental amalgam fillings.

SAFE USE & DISPOSAL OF CHEMICALS

We have special equipment such as safe filters in our suction and waste pipes to minimise our patient’s exposure to mercury when old dental metal fillings have to be taken out.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

In every area of our practice we have embraced the latest technology and installed the latest heating, insulation and energy recycling processes to significantly lower the energy consumption of the practice.
